Princess Lane Lofts

LOCATION   Waterloo, ON

PROJECT TYPE   Mixed-Use, Interiors, Site Planning

COMPLETION DATE   2015

Princess Lane Lofts is a mid-rise, market rental apartment building in Uptown Waterloo. Its cast-in-place concrete structure is an evolution of design first explored by ABA at the near by Red Condo. This urban infill project carefully balances a restricted urban space with nearby heritage assets, the Carnegie Library on Albert Street and the Huether Hotel next door. The desire to create architecture that is both modern and aspirational has resulted in a buff-coloured brick cladding contrasted with dark glazing and framing. A silver aluminum “ribbon” wraps and folds around the building forming canopies,

parapets and rooftop screening elements. Rooftop level amenities and fitness rooms provide access to a large landscaped terrace with unobstructed views of Uptown Waterloo and Waterloo Park. The popular Loloan, a restaurant/bar located on the ground floor of Princess Lane Lofts, was also designed by ABA and enhances the building’s reputation as the finest rental accommodation opportunity in Waterloo Region.
