The redevelopment of 8 Queen Street is an award winning design. It is elegant and maintains the human scale of the building. Although the building takes up the entire property, the redevelopment was more than just a facade. It supports the activation of Goudies land through increased activity, allowing light to spill into the area and
incorporating a retail space at the rear of the laneway. Partnering with the City, murals were incorporated on the wall of 8 Queen Street as well as overhead string lights and seating. The lane is used in the summer both casually and for programmed events, converting the “back of house” space into a space for people.
